Day 6: Rachel's Birthday

We woke in Auburn, MA. Ate breakfast at HI Express then started on our way. Forty five miles in we stopped for gas and Jon led me to McDonalds, are you wondering why...I was, he got my fav from them---a hash brown! I know gross but I love them. We then rode to Allagash Brewing in Portland and went on a tour. Allagash, to our surprise has a bee hive! 

After the tour we had a salad, baguette and salami before our next leg. We arrived to our cabin around 430 pm. We unpacked and went to town to get dinner. The plan is Lobster every day! Jon was fairly shocked to see how commercialized and touristy Bar Harbor has become. We went to Stewmans lobster pound restaurant to get lobster. What a RIPOFF! I refused to eat there as I was not paying 17.95 a pound in Maine for native lobster. We got an appetizer and left. On our way back to the cabin Jon spotted a house with steaming pots in the back. There was a sign too that said C.J.s lobster (hand written). We stopped there and got 2 lobsters, 2 lbs of mussels and 2 lemonade a for 28.00. Much better!
